Brain Injury

Brain injuries may be caused by sudden acceleration and deceleration of the brain, which can happen when a violent blow is applied to the human head. These injuries are known as traumatic brain injuries (“TBI”) and often occur as a result of an auto accident or sports-related injury. TBI can also occur when the head is struck in a slip-and-fall incident, such as when the back or side of the head strikes the floor.

TBI is not easily detected, but common symptoms of such brain injuries are numerous. They may include confusion, headaches, blurred vision, memory loss, brain fog, depression, insomnia, nausea, ringing in the ears, and concentration difficulties. Although these cognitive symptoms are invisible, TBI can be every bit as permanent and debilitating as any visible injury to the outside of the body.

TBI is common in adults, but infants can also be victims of TBI. Because infants do not have the ability to speak and express their suffering, their symptoms often include persistent crying and irritability.
